What if I'll be traveling during the election?

If you'll be traveling during an election, you have two options for voting:

1. If you'll still be in your jurisdiction during the Early Voting dates for the election, you can vote then. To find out about early voting in your state, go to the State Voting Requirements page and select your state. On the following page select your voting location.

  • To see upcoming early voting deadlines, select  “Upcoming Election Dates & Deadlines" and then select an election.
  • To see a more general list of early voting rules, select “General Information” and scroll to “Early Voting."
  • To check for a link to early voting locations, select "State Lookup Tools."

2. If you'll be away from your jurisdiction during Early Voting dates, you can vote by absentee ballot. You can generate an absentee ballot request on our website:

  • Go to Absentee Ballot Request.
  • Complete the process by filling out the information in each step.
  • If available in your state and county, you can choose to submit your form online using our Photo-Signature Email option, eliminating the need to print, sign, scan, upload and email the form yourself.
  • If the Photo-Signature Email option is not available in your state or county, or should you choose not to use it, you will need to download, print, sign, and send your form to your local election office.
  • The address will be provided with the instructions that print with the form.
  • If you do not have a printer and need a paper form, you can ask your local election office to send you one. You can find their contact information in our Election Official Directory.
