If you voted with a mail-in or absentee ballot, many states have tools available for voters to check the status of their ballot. To see if your state does, you can check out our State Ballot Tracking Chart. If your state offers ballot tracking you'll see a ✔︎ next to it, which we've hyperlinked to take you directly to your state's ballot tracking service. While most states count absentee ballots on Election Day, some states take up to 10 days following the election to count them.
If you voted in person, in some states your ballot status will show up in the “Voter History” section of your state's voter information portal as soon as your county completes the post-election process of assigning voter history to your record. This may take two weeks or longer after the election. You can find your voter information portal by using our Am I Registered service.
If your state does not offer ballot tracking, please reach out to your election official for confirmation that your vote was counted. To contact your local election official, go to the Election Official Directory, choose your state and voting region, and click "submit." On the following page click on the tab labeled “Election Official Contact Details” for contact information.
All ballots received by the deadline must be included in the certified election count.
